Description
WIA Austarc 700 Hard Facing Electrodes 4.0mm 5kg – HF70040
Extreme Wear Protection for Hardfacing Applications
The WIA Austarc 700 hardfacing electrode delivers outstanding abrasion resistance for heavily worn steel components. It suits maintenance, rebuild, and surface protection work in agriculture, mining, earthmoving, and industrial environments. The 4.0mm size provides high deposition rates for larger repair jobs and heavy-duty applications.
Ultra-Hard Wear Resistant Deposit
Abrasocord 700 deposits an air-hardening martensitic Cr-Mo-V alloy with hardness levels typically ranging between 53–60 HRC. This high hardness greatly improves resistance against abrasion, scraping, and surface wear under low to moderate impact conditions.
Smooth Arc and Reliable Welding Control
This electrode runs smoothly on both AC and DC welding machines. It produces a stable arc with strong weld control and low spatter levels. Easy arc starting and reliable re-striking improve efficiency during rebuild and maintenance work.
Designed for Severe Abrasion Conditions
The HF70040 suits post-hole augers, grader blades, cultivator points, tynes, shears, and other machinery components exposed to constant abrasive wear. It performs especially well on parts operating in soil, gravel, and material handling environments.
High Strength Hardfacing Performance
The weld deposit resists wear without excessive relief cracking. Operators can also hot forge the deposit after welding if required. In the as-welded condition, the alloy remains extremely hard and difficult to machine, making it ideal where wear life matters more than machinability.
Workshop-Ready 5kg Pack
The 5kg pack suits regular hardfacing and rebuild work across industrial maintenance environments. The larger 4.0mm electrodes improve deposition efficiency on bigger repair applications and reduce rod changes during long weld runs.
Trusted WIA Hardfacing Quality
WIA manufactures hardfacing consumables trusted across Australian industry. The Abrasocord 700 range remains widely used for extending machinery life, reducing downtime, and protecting critical wear components in demanding conditions.
